The Winnipeg based Sisler High School Cyber Academy will start a Team Challenge on February 19th that will last for 19 days.
The Cyber Academy contribution to WCG is long standing thanks to the assistance of teacher and department head Mr. Robert Esposito and several highly motivated students. One of them, Dylan Bucci, spent many hours of his free time reconfiguring a dozen donated servers, and within a year, he contributed 168 years of processing time to World Community Grid’s cancer research.
Sadly, Dylan was diagnosed with stage 4 Ewing’s Sarcoma in the Summer of 2020. Despite the treatment, he passed away at the age of 19 on February 19, 2022. Dylan Bucci’s legacy lives on through the Dylan Bucci Grid Computing Club run by Sisler Cyber Academy.
To celebrate Dylan’s passion for cancer research and to honor his highly valuable contribution to WCG research, the Academy started the "In Memory of Dylan Bucci" challenge, where both the starting date and the duration honor Dylan’s passing and his age.
